Animal Welfare Veterinary Clinic is a companion-animal practice that says it has been operating since 1983. The website states that out-of-hours emergencies are handled by Village Vets (as named on their site), rather than in-house.
From owner reports, the clinic is regularly used for routine care (cat vaccinations are mentioned repeatedly) as well as procedures under anaesthetic (a review describes a dental clean and nail trim done under anaesthetic). Several reviewers also describe the team working deliberately to keep anxious cats calm and to get vaccinations done quickly to reduce stress.
Feedback isn’t fully consistent: alongside long-term clients describing good diagnosis and support for ongoing or serious issues, one recent reviewer describes a long wait, feeling their dog wasn’t properly examined, pain relief not offered until pushed for, and an incorrect follow-up call about their pet having died.

Another one for the books as I want everyone to have an informed opinion about what is going on here. After my dog’s absolutely amazing practitioner passed, I needed a new clinic to go to and register, as the vet I found after who saw Milo was too far away and my dog was in excruciating pain. Given the fact that he had a mild ear infection the previous weeks i assumed I did something wrong and made it worse by not applying the medication properly. After a long waiting time the vet on call called us in and began examining him while I told her what had happened. She said nothing was wrong with his ears and continued to assume that it was PSS. Didn’t give me any pain management medication but gave me some food and some pills for the stomach. I left and i started to see some slight improvements in my dog’s condition that night. The following day he was slightly Ok. I started researching pss and found a clinic in cork. The doctor there, a certified expert in PSS asked me from the start if he was given an MRI that concluded the diagnosis. I told him no and he told me that given the age of my dog and the fact that he had no medical conditions prior the chance of him actually having that are zero! My dog’s condition got worse through the night and I called in again! They did his bloods and after me insisting for him to be given pain management medication they did. The medication had no effect whatsoever and despite not trying to end up in UCD still did. Not to mention a man who had no lead or harness came in with his dog in a dirty bag and asked for help(you could see from the start that he had no money to be sponged of) and was told no-no lead and harness, no consultation in a very annoyed tone. I offered him my dog’s lead and harness and the nurse gave me an ugly stare and reluctantly told him to go in a consultation room. As I mentioned i ended up my dog in ucd. On his release day I had a call from this clinic saying how sorry they were for my loss and how sad it is to lose a beloved friend and companion to cancer. I was baffled…i asked if they knew anything other than I was told as I was on my way to discard him. They said they knew nothing other than the fact that he might have cancer. Then how can you said he passed away? Anyway never again coming here especially after the diagnostics made on assumptions and medication given to him without even doing any actual exams

Cant recommend these guys enough. They have been so helpful and kind with our cat Max over the years and in particular the last few months where sadly he’s had a number of issues but the team here have gone above and beyond to help. A big shout out to Antonio and Martha for their brilliant work and for helping to keep Max calm during all his appointments! Thank you!

All the vets at this practice are fantastic. Our cat finds going to the vet stressful; he hates being in a carrier or travelling by car and is always very stressed on arrival. The vets calm him down and get his vaccinations done so quickly that we are out before he realises what has happened. Figaro is relatively young and has only required standard vaccinations etc but our previous cat had serious medical issues towards the end of her life and, again, they were so good at diagnosis, treatment and general animal care.

Amazing and caring team. Been taking my cat to this clinic for over 3 years, made the mistake to try and find a closer one after I moved but no matter where I went, I kept coming back here. Not a single problem, not a single question mark left in my head after any of our visits! Highly recommended

I have been a client of Animal Welfare Clinic since around 2010 or 2011, with my cats. Over all these years, my experience has always been wonderful. I have met not only highly skilled veterinarians, but, more importantly, kind-hearted people who truly understand the love and anxiety a pet owner feels for their pets. I am truly grateful to the entire team at Animal Welfare Clinic for their care and dedication.
